What initially began as a seeming internet connectivity issue for many users quite interestingly turned out not to be what they thought.

Internet networks were switched on and off, yet the issue persisted as one, two and then thousands of Google suite users raised eye brows that they were not able to connect to various google services such as Gmail, Youtube and Sheets.

Several Gmail users reported receiving error messages when they tried to either refresh, access or log on to Gmail or Google Docs and other services.

For many whose day to work was largely dependent on Google, they were temporarily shut out.

It was quite unusual that the problem could actually be from tech giant, Google itself.

At about 01:09pm WAT, the company issued a statement via its Team Youtube twitter handle saying, “We are aware that many of you are having issues accessing YouTube right now – our team is aware and looking into it. We’ll update you here as soon as we have more news.”

Here are five other things you should know about the outage:

Users first began to complain at about 1:00pm which later spiked as more users across the globe reported being shut out of their various Google programmes.

The temporary shut down affected all of Google suites programmes and everyone who relied on google apps were affected.

The cause of the outage is still yet unknown as Google didnt give any reason for the shut down of its services.

The provision of other tech giants like Twitter proved to be invaluable as it served as a go-to center for users to run to and air their confusion while they also got update and clarification from peers.
