Nigerians have been reacting to the launch of the newly redesigned naira notes by President Muhammadu Buhari.  The new naira notes, which were launched by President Buhari at the State House, Abuja on Wednesday 23rd, November has gotten Nigerians talking with many giving the CBN knocks and scating criticisms.

Since the announcement of the plans to phase out the naira notes which has been in use for more that two decades now and introduce new designs of the notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) at an event in Abuja, by the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefie, in September, Nigeria have been waiting anxiously to see what the new notes would be like.

The Central Bank Governor had earlier said the decision to redesign the naira note was due to concerns with the management of the current series of banknotes, and currency in circulation.

According to him, the currency management has faced several challenges that have continued to grow in scale and sophistication with unforeseen consequences for the integrity of both the CBN, and the entire country at large.

With the launch of the new Naira (200,500,100) notes by the President on Wednesday, comments and reactions have continued to pour in over the redesigned Naira notes.

Below are some of the reactions that have greeted the redesigned note on social media:

@moyoluwatuyi

I get the logic actually.

By making naira look vintage, it will regain its old value.

The international market will think that it’s the same as the naira we were spending in the 80s and 90s when the value was still high. So the value will appreciate.
