Apply Now For The Thrive/Shell Climate-Smart Agric Challenge For Chance To Win $100k

The British Multinational Oil and Gas Company and SVG Ventures have organised the “Thrive/Shell Climate-Smart Agricultural Challenge” as part of their efforts to bring about change and rapid development in the agricultural sector. 

A programme aimed at supporting agriculture startups and their companies and owners who have the passion and potential to bring global transformation to the agricultural sector

The challenge associated with the UN’s sustainable development goal aimed at reducing poverty, eliminating hunger, and bringing about the desired innovation, industry, and agricultural development rate focuses on areas such as identifying and promoting innovations that help farmers enhance their land, improving farm connectivity to access the carbon market and carbon financing, and providing solutions that measure and qualify soil carbon, soil health, and greenhouse gas emissions. 

How To Apply

Interested startups agricultural companies who might want to be part of the THRIVE/SHELL climate-smart agricultural challenge are to go on the organizer’s website and submit the required details on or before December 11, 2022, after which the best startups companies will be shortlisted for the challenge.

In selecting the startups for the Climate-Smart Agricultural challenge, the applicants will be screened base on 

  • The difference and uniqueness of the start-up ideas, and the proven results of such ideas.
  • Of what value or impact will the new idea be if it works
  • The new deal must be the one that is achievable, affordable, and measurable.
  • Another thing that will be considered in the selection process is the relevance and usefulness of such an idea to the future of climate- smart Agriculture.

And in selecting the scale ups for the climate-smart agricultural challenge, such startups must have 

  • A detailed plan which outline the marketing reach, team structure, and key production offering
  • A proven scalability of a base business and formalized business model.

Benefits For The Winner

Winners and selected agro-allied companies of the THRIVE Climate-Smart Agricultural Challenge will:

  • Be selected to receive up to $100,000 in funding to develop a proof of concept and will be eligible for investment from Shell Ventures if such startups meet the investment criteria.
  • Acceptance into the Shell GameChanger programme with access to coaching and additional funding opportunities.
  • Receive automatic nominations for THRIVE’s top 50 AgTech Listings. Potential pilot opportunities with Shell. And gain brand recognition through THRIVE media and brand exposure across channels
  • Selected applicants will also secure placement in THRIVE’s Accelerator programme in 2024.
  • Go through THRIVE’s extensive ecosystem of industry experts and receive focused startup coaching. And also get to be shortlisted for future partnership opportunities with THRIVE’s network.
