DashTickets launches Scholarship for African University Students on Edutainment

DashTickets, a company best known for its role in the entertainment and ticketing sector, has launched a new merit-based scholarship aimed at supporting African undergraduate students who are interested in the intersection of entertainment and education.

The Undergraduate Merit Award will provide $3,000 to one selected student to help cover educational expenses for the 2025–2026 academic year. Eligible applicants include current undergraduate students at African universities as well as high school graduates who have received an acceptance letter from a university on the continent.

The initiative reflects a growing interest in “edutainment” — a blend of education and entertainment that uses tools such as digital media, film, games, and live performance to enhance learning outcomes.

According to DashTickets, the scholarship aims to encourage students to think critically about how educational spaces can evolve in the digital age.

Essay and Application Requirements

To apply, students are required to submit:

A 1,000 to 2,000-word essay addressing the prompt: “Reimagining Classrooms: How Can Edutainment Shape the Future of Education in a Post-Digital World?”

A motivational letter explaining their interest in the scholarship and how edutainment could transform education

Proof of current enrollment or university acceptance in Africa

Submissions must be sent via email to scholarship@dashtickets.nz
. The deadline for applications is April 1, 2026.

Selection Process

A panel made up of professionals from the fields of education and entertainment will review the applications. Selection criteria include originality, relevance of ideas, and the quality of writing. The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who presents the most compelling vision for the future of edutainment in education.

Broader Context

While DashTickets has traditionally focused on ticketing services, this move into education aligns with a wider trend of private sector involvement in supporting alternative learning approaches, especially those that integrate media and technology.

The company has not disclosed how many submissions it expects to receive or whether additional scholarships will be offered in future years. However, updates about the program will be posted on its official website and social media pages.

Students and institutions interested in learning more can contact DashTickets directly at the email address provided.
