Popular Nigerian entrepreneur and South African based founder and CEO of solar electricity company, WiSolar, Tonye Irim’s vision of spearheading the drive of a pan-african green digital utility service provision appears to be gaining steam as his company WiSolar has announced plans to launch its mobile app.

According to the company, the innovative and easy to use app will enable prepaid solar electricity customers to buy electricity units on the go.

Residential developers and property owners will be able to view customers and earn commissions on solar prepaid tariffs.

The app, according to the company, is an attempt to democratize the process of solar electricity consumption for users.

To use it, residential developers, property owners and virtually anyone interested in using solar electricity can register on the platform. After registering, they can then go ahead to buy prepaid solar electricity units.

The company also says residential developers can draw commissions on prepaid purchases from their wallets to bank accounts while merchant partners can instantly draw commissions on sales from their wallets to bank accounts.

Solar Electricity customers can also enroll on the platform as merchants to sell packages and earn commissions.

Speaking on the proposed launch, Tonye Irims, CEO, WiSolar said, “We believe the launch of the Mobile App for Prepaid Solar electricity units is a game changer for the drive towards clean energy adoption across Africa and we are immensely proud of what we are set to launch. Upon launch, users will be able to seamlessly purchase prepaid electricity units just the way data is purchased.

We look forward to partnering with developers and merchant partners as we roll out the app which will be available for download on all app stores and WiSolar website.”

Irims says work on the company’s solar-as-a-service system has been on since 2019 since as they worked to get the right developers and upstream partners. He also revealed that his company is partnering with New Frontier Developments, Nigeria for the deployment of prepaid solar electricity in over 1000 homes across the country.
