Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife TV along with the entire cast of Chief Daddy 2 which premiered on January 1st on Netflix have all come under heavy criticism on social media for what many describe as a movie not worth more than an Instagram skit.

According to movie watchers who had hoped to start the new year with a good time watching the movie on Netflix, they were disappointed at the entire package saying the film is an all time low for the fashionista CEO and her production company as it lacked a good plot and even the production

A movie review handle @NgMOvies_Review analysed the movie thus:

‘’The Beecroft family is ready to spend their inheritance but there is a new obstacle. A new daughter has appeared, she is the CEO of Beecroft industries and the majority shareholder.

‘’Absurd. That is the best way to describe this movie, there was no storyline, a woman suddenly appears and the next thing they are in a meeting where she announces to them that she is the majority shareholder in Chief daddy’s company and as such will deny them of what had been willed to them. When and how did she become CEO?

‘’And majority shareholder? Why was she not called when Chief Daddy died? From that point on, things progressed from bad to worse. The trip to Dubai, the scandal, the 3 way romance between Tinu, Teni & Sony, the relationship between Damilare &Ada, everything did not make any sense.’’

Continuing it accused EbonyLife of taking Nigerians as illiterates which informed why they didn’t bother to do the barest minimum. It says the least they could do was to do a little bit of research to show the logical process on how someone becomes the majority shareholder in a company. Or why the company’s expansion effort affected the personal will of the deceased MD.

It also asked how possible it was for the family lawyer not being aware that there was a new shareholder.

The review concluded that the sequel fell shot of the low standard set by the first part as it wondered why the line up of A list actors and actresses like Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Shaffy Bello, Beverly Naya never saw anything wrong in the movie.

The movie, it noted squandered its talented cast on a plot that should have been an Instagram skit and says it is impossible to recommend it on any level as it says it is neither funny nor entertaining.

Another notable critic David Hunduyen, a journalist wrote saying, ‘’Mo Abudu’s movies are like that thing we used to do in the 90s and early 2000s during high school socials when we’d gather around a sound system playing popular American songs and then start miming the lyrics at each other.’’

According to him, it looks like art, but it’s not, he says.

‘’If making movies is like singing or rapping, then what she does is like what ShowDee or DJ Khalid does. It’s in the same ecosystem, but it’s not the same thing. There’s a special type of vapid emptiness that runs through her entire catalogue. I’m struggling to explain it here…

‘’Like if movies are ice cream, hers are frozen water. You can consume it the same way as ice cream, but you come away scratching your head trying to remember what the plot was or why you spent your time or money on it. And yet you’ll still watch the next one when it comes out. ‘’

There really needs to be a word to explain this phenomenon, he says. He says it’s like she’s figured out how to make a highly successful movie without actually, making a movie.

Reacting, another user @sammysam0202 replied saying, ‘’It’s no hack. It’s simply monopoly. Like couple of them when they want to release movies dey knock off all other movies from the cinema. Have u wondered why some names and movies always get listed during festive period?’’

‘’Also in nig How many Netflix curator av we, same company tht controls d cinema, meaning dey decide 4 netflix, same company tht will ask u over 10m to list ur movie and still demand for % and still tell u ur cast aren’t their A list actors without even checking the story line.

‘’Mo, ay, and lot of the big names… yet they get good listing and time. When my self and a friend was pushing a movie for cinemas we were told boldly ember/January is for them big guns. Asking for 10m to list ur movie yet they will still take %. Monopoly bt give good content
