The state also signed a Joint Venture agreement with a Vehicle Assembly Plant wit CIG Motors where these cars will be assembled.
Tweeting via his official Twitter handle, the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwoolu says the Lagos Ride Scheme is another innovative policy of his administration targeted at making life easier for Lagosians, improving mobility and creating a seamless multi-modal transportation system.

The Lagos Ride Scheme is another innovative policy of our administration targeted at making life easier for Lagosians, improving mobility and creating a seamless multi-modal transportation system.
Tweeting further he said, ”The scheme is in fulfilment of our desire to give residents better transportation choices. The modern ride service is one of the State Government’s socio-economic intervention programmes, which will be professionally managed in line with global best practices.”
The launch of Lagos Ride is another effort on the part of the state to play in the state’s transport sector. Recall that in March 2020, two entrepreneurs had launched, Eko Cab a ride-hailing app aimed at rivalling the likes of Uber and Bolt much to the chagrin of Lagosians who were at the time still reeling from the drastic ban of Okada within the state’s metropolis.

According to the state government, the branded SUVs being unveiled by the governor cost about N10 million and above in Nigeria but the Cooperative Society in the Lagos Ministry of Wealth Creation will give drivers room to pay in monthly installments for the cars for a period of four years.
At the end of this period, the drivers will then take full ownership of the cars.
The project the government says will take off fully in the next six months.
