Popular Nollywood actress and producer, Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband must be smiling with satisfaction right now given the rave reviews that has so far heralded the premiere of their latest work, Omo Ghetto: The Saga.
From the reviews so far, it appears the duo got it right on the project. The movie is remarkable on many fronts as it marks the first collaboration between Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband JJC Skillz as they co-directed the project and as it stands, is already bagging quite a number of firsts.
To deliver on the storyline, the film parades a line up of formidable Nollywood faces, as well as some surprises also.
Eniola Badmus starred as Busty, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Chioma Akpotha who played the role of Chummy Choko and Bimbo Thomas are some of the regular faces while the likes of Naira Marley and Yemi Alade made their debut movie appearance on the flick.
According to reports, part of the film was shot in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and the production was to an extent affected by the COVID-19 pandemic but that was not enough to deter the duo from making it ready for its December launch date.
Records have it that the film has so far grossed over N189 million in its first week of release, displacing the last record set by EbonyLife’s The Wedding Party. It has also gone ahead to set the record as the first Nollywood film ever to gross over N99million in its opening weekend at the box office.
It continues to set new records as its performance at the Nigerian box office continues to turn out impressive.
