UPDATE: How Nigerians Are Reacting To OPay’s Business Cut Announcement

Nigerians have been reacting to the announcement from digital mobile payment solution company OPay to downsize and put some of its busineses on hold.

OPay is reportedly shuttering ORide, its bike hailing service; OMall, its B2C e-commerce app; OTrade, its B2B e-commerce platform; OExpress, its logistics delivery service; and OFood, its food delivery service, according to Nigeria News Today.

Below is a round up of how Nigerians are reacting to the announcement:

@KayodeJason
Classic example of – you can’t tech your way out of bad govt policies.
@eddiebongos
Nigeria is the graveyard of private enterprise
@Jayyfakorede
One policy away from a defunct business model. This country will frustrate business owners and do about creating stupid committees for job creation forgetting the private sector they frustrate is the engine of job creation.
@GordonIykes
Ahn ahn nau. Nigerians it’s not everything you joke about. At least think about all the people that would have lost their jobs if not the dreams of another private investor going to waste. One day you’ll run your own enterprise too, no matter how small. Rain no dey select roof o
@Ope_Gbadegesin
I can’t understand why some people find this humorous, this is a clear economic disaster, many families will suffer for this development, some children will go hungry for this, some bread winners will become jobless for this, it’ll surely have a multiplier effects. Sigh!
