In the early hours of Sunday, 11 December 2022, the first son of the former military governor of Lagos state, Gbolahan Mudasiru, was killed in a hit-and-run accident. Until his death, he was the co-founder of Vetiva Capital – a company in which he served as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operations Officer.
For those who live around Ikoyi and its environs, it is common to see Olaolu Gbolahan Mudasiru geared up every weekend to engage in his usual ritual – cycling with friends and colleagues. But on this fateful Sunday morning, while cycling with two friends along Bourdilion road in the Ikoyi area of Lagos, he was knocked down by what reports claimed was a commercial bus.
According to an official police report made available to the public through the spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, the son of the former military governor, has been confirmed dead, while the other two riders in his company are responding to treatment in a private hospital.
The police spokesman, however, added that no arrests have been made in relation to the death but assured the public to remain calm as investigations are underway.
